Quilt Show

Our first fall quilt show was held last month (September 21 & 22) and it was a great success. Please enjoy a few highlights from the show.

Vivian won the 24" challenge. We had over 20 entries which show attendees voted on their favorite. Sadly, our pictures don't truly capture the beauty and hours of workmanship that went into the entries. These challenge pieces were not labelled with names - even us members did not know who entered what quilt. It was a lot of fun trying to figure out who submitted which ..... the only rule was to make a 24 inch mini quilt and construct all of it yourself. We had a wide variety of workmanship in the entries.

Gladys placed second with this piece called Hidden Lake

And Sandra came in third place with this original sunflower design.

Here's a couple of shots of the group of us holding our challenge pieces. We really stepped up our game for this one!

We are fabric starved here in Flin Flon and are forever grateful that we have such good relationships with a few vendors. Michelle from Mami's Country Quilts frequnts our show and she didn't disappoint this year. She is Batik lover and paper piecing master.

Shari and Lee came up from Winkler to share their wares with us. Road 17 North is a great shop and I hope you are able to visit them. Shari has been a great friend to our guild.

A few more shots .... we had a bustling crowd again this year ... these pictures were mostly taken soon after set up when all was perfect and waiting ....

A few shots of our draws .....

And the viewer's choice ribbon goes to Phyl for her Kimberbell embroidery quilt. It is lovely! Congratulations Phyl!

Thank you to Barb Harrower for her lovely photographs. Barb is our 'official' show photographer. Many thanks.

Thanks for contributing to our show! We are really proud of out little guild and hope to see you in two years. We welcome new members all the time and are planning some Beginner Quilting workshops this month. Please join us on the third Tuesday of each month at the United Church.

Happy quilting,
 ~Sheri

I love how all the quilts transform that hall during the show! Looks like a lot of works was done over the last two years making the quilts and last few months getting the show organized! Love the Challenge Quilts, vendor booths and the displays look so lovely. Great job everyone! I wish I could have been there to enjoy the show and all your company! Miss you all!
