January Show and Tell

Okay, I know, I did the post order backwards...that's how you can tell it is Kathy writing the January blog and not Sandra!  There was a lot of great Show and Tell this month.

Here is Val with her adorable Ducky quilt.

Here is Lorna with her bali placemats that she started at the retreat.

Marg with her Celtic quilt. ( A+ from the teacher!)

Blanche showing her hand quilted Mystery quilt, great color choices!

And last but not least.....Lori and Kathy with the quilt they made together with their Northcott winnings.  And yes we settled the debate about the pattern....I was wrong and Lori was right!   I just love getting her going though :)

January Meeting

We had a small group of members turn out during the day, and a beautiful warm January day it was (thats for all those snowbirds reading this!).    Members helped put together a package to send to Quilt Canada that contains seam rippers, book marks, star ornaments and two small wall hangings.   The borders are going on a Quilt of Valour quilt and two scrappy square quilts have been started.  A few more kits for the Comfort and Rememberance quilt were made and we need two more block to start another quilt.   If you would like to make block using your own fabric that is great but please use a good quality fusible web like Steam a Seam 2 lite ( not Heat and Bond).
The Baby Quilt Challenge rules are available and the quilts need to be turned in at the March meeting.
A reminder to start working on your Winter-Wear Unfinished Block.  The theme means having some item of clothing worn in the winter and the design can include people, animals, snowman, etc wearing the items...so be creative.
There will be an executive meeting at 5pm on Feb 16. All members are welcome to attend and the focus will be the Quilt Show.

Time to get those Birdhouse quilt tickets out to the public so we need volunteers to sit and sell tickets.  If you didn't sign up I'm sure you will be called.  This is our mains source of revenue for the guild and it is important that every member donate some of their time to sell tickets.

Nadine finished the binding for our Birdhouse quilt.

Lorna is demonstrating Part 5 of the Mystery project.

This vintage quilt will be raffled at our Quilt Show.

Kathy and Lori demostrated the Irish Chain block and Linda and Audrey were the brave ones to participate in our pressing experiement.

The Irish Chain blocks are going to make a beautiful quilt!!

Looking for Irish Chain Quilts!

The program for January is the Irish Chain pattern.  Lori and Kathy will be demonstrating the construction of the blocks needed to make this quilt but they do not have a finished sample.  If you have a finished Irish Chain quilt could you please bring it to the meeting so they can show it for the program.  Any style and size of Irish Chain is fine, the more quilts the better.
Please spread the word to guild members that do not have internet.  Thanks!
