Challenge

This is a blank slate! A beautiful tangerine coloured slate!

What are you going to do with this material?

This is the fabric for our quilt show challenge ... you have one year to come up with a masterpiece!
Well .... a masterpiece with a few rules!

You must pay $10 to get this fabric (see Lynn for that)

You must make a 24 inch square mini quilt .... not 30 ", not 12" ... 24"!

It must be square. Not round, not cuckoo crazy ... square please.

You must sew it all yourself. All of it. No hiring a long arm quilter ... you can't farm out your binding.

You must make it all yourself (it will be great!)

You must not add any hangers to it .... they need to fit on the peg boards for the stage

You must have an open mind and good spirit to take part ... go out of your comfort zone, or stick with what you are comfortable with.

The tangerine must be used on the front. Use it anywhere but it has to be noticeable. Don't cheap out on just use an inch, now. Use it!

Have fun

August

We had a spirited group out to guild this week with plenty of show and tell for August.

Yvonne continues to be our bag lady in residence. She is making some dynamite pieces!

She led us in a demonstration on how to sew biased binding

Raye made a stunning hand embroidered quilt

Rae shows off this sweet throw she made for a sweet friend

Marg made some magic out of our guild stash. The cupboard is still overflowing!

Sandra and Sandra are a good tag team to model three cosy throws the guild girls whipped up Tuesday. These throws will be donated to the local handi-van to keep riders warm

Phyl has been busy making some sweet things

And the sweetest Halloween quilt you will ever see!

I'm proud to show off my summer stash busting quilts

And a quilted advent calendar for Christmas

Myrna is standing in for her sister who made this comfort quilt for our cupboard

Sandra was good enough to demo the pineapple block ruler last month and made good use of it here. Sorry about the blurry picture. Sandra doesn't like to stand still to smile when she's at the front!

June made this sweet fresh throw

Our Madam presidents show off one of our Christmas raffle prizes. We have had a busy summer and seem to have our winter fundraisers nearly finished.

No scrap left behind!

And one last sweet treat. Myrna made this lovely Canada themed bag.

Happy quilting!
