February 2010 Meeting Highlights

26 members turned out on Tuesday evening for our business meeting. The afternoon was very quiet with only about 6 ladies working on the Quilts of Valour projects.

Marg demonstrated the curved piecing for the final block of our Mystry sampler. The final border will be in the April meeting. That gives everyone time to finish all six of their blocks.
Here are the first five blocks done in a variety of colours and themes.
The quilt show is in April so here are some things to remember before the show:
Baby quilt challenges are to be turned in at the March meeting for judging.
Don't forget to make your winter wear block for the show.
Don't forget to sell your raffle tickets.
The quilt entries for the show should be ready to turn it to Kathy by or before the March meeting. I will PDF the form out in a mass e-mailing this week.
The new comfort block for March and April is the Double Pinwheel and it makes rtwo blocks. The pattern and all the fabric required to make these blocks has been provided for by the guild.

We will be having elections in April and have openings for Treasurer, Programs and Library. Please consider taking one of these positions or sharing it with a fellow guild member.
The program for the evening was Hawian quilting, and was demonstrated by Marg.

We are looking for items for our Toonie Parade for the quilt show. These should be completed items, not fabric or kits. They do not have to be quilting items but anything the general public would be interesting in winning.

Here are some of the show and tells and club projects displayed at the meeting.
Lori and Kathy are interesting in fabric dying and were proudly displaying some of their first pieces.
