July 2009 Meeting

There were 17 members in the morning to help baste quilts and 22 members came out on the rainy afternoon to work on The Pointless Wonder and Magic Tiles blocks.

The ladies turned in their Popsicle blocks. There are still a couple of blocks out, so if you are hanging on to a piece of pink or green, please complete your block and bring or send it to the next meeting.

Child and Family Services are always willing to accept more kid's travel clothing bags. The pattern is available from our updated library.

Copies of the maple leaf pattern for the Quilts of Valour will be available at the next meeting.

Members are reminded to check their information on the membership list and update it as needed.

Mystery Quilt will start in September. You can refer to a separate posting below for fabric requirements.

Marg F has donated the remaining North Star pins. All members should have one and new members will be given one when they join. Yvonne H has the pins.

The Christmas fat quarter exchange colour this year is yellow.

We also need ideas for a quick and easy craft for the Christmas Party.

The program for the evening was converting a sweatshirt into a jacket, and was demonstrated by Marg F.

The presidents block will be combined with the comfort block for August and September. Lorna has chosen bright colours for a four patch and an hour glass block. As you can see below. Excess blocks will be used for comfort quilts.

Guild members worked on the magic tiles and pointless wonder blocks in the afternoon. Here is an idea of what the pointless wonder stars will look like with black.
Marg has already finished sewing the kit she won last month for the most popular birdhouse block.

This was going to be our Christmas project, but Marg said it might be too difficult and requires quit a few extra items and tools. Therefore we may do a smaller version of this runner. We will have to wait and see what the projects committee has for ideas.
These are Helen's purses.
