Meeting Highlights for June 2013

There were 23 members present and no guests.

Dates for the summer UFO days have been booked.
They will be Saturday July 20th  9 to 5 and Saturday August 17th  9 to 5.

Scissor sharpening will be taking place in August and September for a fee of $2 a pair.

The July workshop, a Promise Quilt, demonstrated by Lorna Heuchert, will take place at the July 16th guild day beginning at 1pm.  Bring a needle, thimble, 2 1/2 inch strips of fabric (the guild has some) and 40 weight thread.
The August 20th  basket workshop will begin at 10:30am.  Marg Faktor has cording available for sale at 40 cents a meter.  Rae Baumgartner made a motion that the guild purchase a bulk order of stiffening to be sold to members making the basket.

Audrey introduced the Paint Chip Challenge to members.  Each member chose a paint chip card and the challenge is to construct a quilting project using the colors on you card.  See Audrey for all the rules.  The projects will be displayed at the quilt show in April along with your paint chip card.  The viewers will vote on their favorite.

Here are some of our guilds comfort quilts that where made by our members.

Here are some of Nadine's Challenge quilts.

I had offered a prize ( hand dyed fat quarters) to those members who had all their Mystery blocks done. There were 7 members that had theirs done and some had the tops put together. Robin even had her's quilted!  Way to go everyone!  It is so exciting to see these quilts coming together and know that there are more in the making.  If you haven't heard Lori and I have decided to publish this quilt pattern under our new business name Highway 10 Designs and are calling his pattern Alternate Routes.  We have opened an Etsy online shop and have the pattern for sale in PDF format for instant download.  You can find our Etsy shop here.

Now onto the rest of the members Show and Tell.

Happy Quilting!
