February 20th Meeting

We had a smaller turn out at the meeting. A lot of our members are away enjoying warmer vacations. Dale Hunt our CQA representative for Manitoba, sent us a package of little treats, so we had an extra five membership draws to give these prizes away. There were a lot of ladies out of town who had their name drawn. Too bad, you had to be there to win.

We had a lot of show and tell. Below you will see Helen G's new king size quilt. Mary designed and sewed it for Helen. She sent it to Jackie at Vintage quilting in Gladstone for long arm quiting. It is made all in satins, what a beautiful and unusual quilt. Lovely job ladies!. We have received an enthusiastic response to the Boomer hat project. Look at all the lovely baby hats. There are over 100 more hats on the table. Keep them coming!
Lorie and Kathy demonstrated binding. They also covered reversible bindings, and proved you can miter a corner using their method. There are still some handouts available, they can be picked up at Faktor's.

We spent the day working on the log cabin block of the month. Some members donated their finished squares. We are putting them together into quilts, wall hanging, and table runners. Anyone who has a log cabin square or two they don't want from that earlier block of the month, the quilt will find a home for it.

And finally this is a reminder, the unfinished square for the June meeting is transportation. The membership will vote on their favorite, and also a draw will be made for another prize, so you have 2 chances at winning a prize for your block. Let's get lots of squares on the board.

Until next time, happy quilting!
