March 2015 Meeting Highlights

There were 25 members at our evening meeting and about 10 members for the day time workshop.  We worked on our Fancy Fox quilt and have all the blocks ready to put together for our next meeting.

The Swan River Retreat in April has been cancelled due to low participation but has been rescheduled for Sept 18, 19, 20!!

The Guild's retreat on March 13th and 14th was a big success and 16 members in attendances.  The participants had a wonderful time and the potluck supper was delicious as always.

The new Comfort block for March and April is a simple 4 patch and was demonstrated by Audrey,  You need two 5" white squares and two 5" medium to dark squares.  Bring two and one goes to the guild, the other will go into a draw so if you're going to make more than two bring an even number.

Now to Show and Tell

Happy Quilting!

February 2015 Meeting Highlights

We had a very small group out during the day with so many of our snowbirds away but the evening meeting had a nice turn out with 22 members and 2 guests.

Our Round Robin Challenge is now over and all the quilt tops were on display.  Everyone is holding the quilt they did the last round on, the instructions were 'Dealers Choice".  Wonderful work everyone!!

We had a request from Katie for a quilt donations to be used for a raffle for the Relay for Life event to raise money for cancer research.   The members decided the Star Fling quilt would be perfect as it is so bright and cheery!  I'm sure it will be a successful fundraiser!

Reminders
Our Spring Retreat will be this weekend, Friday March 13 and Saturday March 14 so hope many of you can make it.  Potluck supper on Friday night at 6pm and all members are welcome to come to the supper!

Next months meeting program will be a Quilter's Swish!  What is that you ask?  Well it is a great way to clean out good but unwanted quilting notions, patterns, fabrics and make a trade for someone elses items.  No money is involved, just a straight trade system.   If you bring one item you get to take one item. If you bring 10 items you will get the chance to pick 10 items and we will use a draw method to make that fair.

February Show and Tell

Another great Show and Tell!
Happy Quilting.

Snowbirds

Well it looks like some of our guild members are enjoying a nice warm winter and this group in Arizona had a wonderful reunion!   Looks so lovely and warm.   I think they look a little too happy!

And then there is our group of ladies out on Vancouver Island enjoying a winter of golf and geocaching!    Look at that green grass!   Well I think all the members that stayed up north all winter are a bit jealous as it is -25'c this morning with a -33'c windchill.

January 2015 Meeting Highlights

We had 27 members and one guest present for our January meeting.  We had a small group out during the day and worked on a few projects.

Our Round Robins are getting close to finished.  Our instructions for January were to add bling to the quilt tops and our last months instructions is "Dealers Choice" so participants can do whatever they like for the last round.

Our program for the evening was demonstrated by Audrey and is our newest comfort block.  It is a snowball block using the Moda fabrics we have collected. It is going to be beautiful!

We had promised to make quilts for the family that is moving into the Habitat for Humanity house and Glenna has finished the quilt for the son.  She designed it herself and even digitized the Lego characters that are the boys favorite!  Wonderful job Glenna!

We also finished the Rag quilt that Phyl demonstrated last spring.

Wendy from Fabriculous will be coming up on Feb 27th and 28th to teach a workshop on the Weekender Tote Bag.  Please contact Sheri if you are interested in joining in this workshop.  The fee for the class is $90 and that includes supper on Friday and lunch on Saturday.   The kits for the bag are available though Wendy so please contact her directly to pick out your fabrics for  your kits, they are around $90.

Highway 10 Designs will be holding a retreat again in Swan River on April 24th, 25th and 26th.  The cost for the retreat, including all meals is $125 and rooms at the Super 8 are being held for $118/night.   A sign up sheet will be passes around at the February meeting.  Please contact Kathy if you are interests but will not be at the meeting.

Now onto our Show and Tell!
