Meeting Highlights for August 2013

We had a great turn out for our August meeting.

Reminder that Marg Faktor will be sharpening scissors again for the September meeting at a fee of $2 a pair so if you forgot yours at the August meeting you have another chance.

The guild chose these three quilts to send to Lac Megantic for the relief effort after the terrible train disaster that happened this summer. I also added a quilt to donate to the cause.

We had a fantastic number of Promise Squares turned in for our latest comfort block.

Marg Faktor lead a class in the afternoon on how to make Woven Fabric Baskets. Here is the sample she made in class.

Here are Nadine's latest quilt for her Challenge.

Now onto August's Show and Tell!

Summer doesn't seem to slow us down when it come to quilting!
See you in September!

Meeting Highlights for July 2013

The meeting was attended by 23 members and one guest.

The date for the next UFO day is August 17th.

Don't forget at the August and September meetings Marg will be sharpening scissors for a fee of $2 a pair.
Also the workshop for the August Meeting is the Woven Basket and will start at 10:30am.

Now here are some of the guild quilts that were worked on during the day.

We decided to send a few quilts to The Sewing Room in Calgary who are collecting quilts to give to the victims of the Alberta floods. These are the three we are sending.

Now to Show and Tell.

The evening program was the Promise Quilt comfort block demonstrated by Lorna Heuchert and is a hand pieced block.

Rae Baumgartner demonstrated another comfort block called Star Fling, a nice option for those that don't like hand piecing.

Happy Quilting!
Kathy
