Quilt Show This Week!!

We have a grand total of 153 quilts entered in our show this year.  Our Toonie Parade is going to be fantastic and our new cookbook will be available for sale too.

Our Merchant Mall is made up of two shops this year. Prairie Chicks Quilting from Hague, SK and Mami's Country Quilts from Duck Lake, SK.  They are both bringing as much merchandise as they can so make your  lists of backing and fabrics that you need to finish your UFO's. I'm sure you'll also see new projects that you won't be able to resist too  :)

We will have 4 In House Raffle quilt to try your luck at as well as our beautiful Bargello quilt that will all be drawn on Saturday.

March 2012 Meeting Highlights

25 Members braved the freezing rain to come out to the evening meeting.

The Banner for advertising our Quilt Show has arrived, looks terrific and was admired.  It will be hung outside of the Community Hall for those driving by to see!

Various items were donated  to add to our Toonie Parade.  There are a variety of baskets and anyone still wishing to donate an item is more than welcome to pass it on to
 Marg. Lyle.

Bookmarks for handouts were reviewed.

Blocks for Kathy’s President Block in Batiks are still being accepted.

Antique Tile Comfort Quilt blocks are still being accepted.

Sign up sheets for various jobs and raffle ticket sales were available.  Please check out the sheets and sign up for an area of your choice!  We would ask that each member sign up for a minimum of two shifts.

Raffle tickets will be sold at Eddies and the Co-op.  The Bargello Quilt is now hanging at Peachy Keen until the show so you can direct people there to see it.

The block for April and May will be the Weed Whacker block that was demonstrated by Audrey.

Below is our old Italian square block sewn into a quilt top.
Here are some of the toy blocks from the Christmas party 2010 sewn into a top.  We will be making two more tops from the remaining blocks.
Here are the door prizes for the quilt show.  A table runner
 and a wall hanging.

Members were reminded that the Guild would appreciate a donation of 2 dozen cookies per member for our Quilt Show.

Cookbooks have been ordered and should be here for the next meeting.  You may pre-pay if you wish.  Great job ladies!

February 2012

There were 25 members and one guest at our February meeting.  The afternoon was very quite, with most of our members away enjoying warmer climates.

Information was received from the Flin Flon Arts Council about the Northern Juried Art Show being held in The Pas on April 26-28th.

Kathy D took these squares home and sewed them together.  We cut them pre ragged on our Go -cutter.  That made easy work of a rag quilt.

This is another quilt for Rae's challenge.
A Touch Quilt was given to the Community Living Disability Services client, as shown below.
Here is our completed zig zag quilt.  Quilted by Kathy of Tamarack Shack.
Here is our comfort block for February and March.  In Jewel tones please.

Kathy received a phone call from Candy Greff who received our Quilt of Remembrance after her son died in Afghanistan on October 29, 2011.  (  http://ccrquilts.ca/ )

Members were reminded that a new executive is needed for May.  (Positions open include secretary, treasurer, program, membership, and vice-president.)
The upcoming quilt show was reviewed.

Sign up sheets for the various jobs at the quilt show were available. (Members were asked to take on at least two shifts.)
Entry forms are due April 9th.

Bargello Raffle tickets will be sold in the community.

There will be two merchants for the show. (Prairie Chicks from Hague and Mami’s Quilts in Duck Lake)

Comfort Block   The Antique tile block will continue as the comfort block for February.

The Program for the evening was Audrey Neufeld demonstrating the Lazy Angle Ruler and the Hugs and Kisses pattern from Jaybird Quilts.

Also members are reminded to work on their unfinished square for the quilt show.  12 1/2 inches completed.  The theme is insects.
